Every day, New York Cares sees the tremendous impact made by New Yorkers who care. Below are just a few, very special, New Yorkers who care.

Alan Ginsberg
For 10 years, Alan has been a regular at hundreds of New York Cares projects, helping brighten the days of young and old alike. He reads with homeless children and accompanies them on adventures around the city. He plays bingo with lonely seniors, feeds the homeless and helps provide stimulating environments for school kids by painting colorful murals. Alan's most memorable volunteer moment? He was volunteering at a homeless shelter one night, and the little girl he was reading with said to him, "I wish you were my daddy."

Barbara Feith-Tarnoff
Since joining New York Cares in 1997, Barbara's steadfast commitment to leading our Achilles Kids project has enabled thousands of disabled kids to run, walk and roll further than they ever thought possible. In the process, Barbara and the volunteers have improved the kids' health and fitness levels and have also given them the self confidence and self-esteem that comes with setting goals and achieving them.

Laura Tucker
Since 1997, Laura has made an immense impact on the lives of underserved children. Every month, she leads a recreation project for kids who often come from households where chronic underemployment, public assistance and the struggle to make ends meet are a way of life. Thanks to Laura and her team of volunteers, the children explore new worlds as they experience a wide range of adventures throughout the city.
