Reporting to the Director of Individual & Foundation Giving and Special Events, the Development Coordinator supports the Development Team in administering New York Cares’ multi-faceted individual giving and special events initiatives.
Winter Benefit Assistant
The Seasonal Benefit Assistant will report to the Director of Individual & Foundation Giving and Special Events to assist in the production of New York Cares’ Annual Winter Benefit, slated to raise at least $1,350,000 in 2013. Administrative responsibilities include: use in-house database software for gift entry and accurate, timely processing and reconciliation of all donations and ticket purchases, be a contact with hired event firm and manage aspects of the relationship, assist in the tracking of invitee mailing lists; assist in the coordination of event logistics.
Disaster Recovery Manager (Brooklyn Focus: July 2013 – June 2014)
Reporting to the Director of Service Events, the Disaster Recovery Program Manager (Brooklyn Focus) will develop new partnerships with community organizations in Brooklyn and maintain existing partnerships. The manager will be the lead for New York Cares’ Sandy recovery efforts in Brooklyn. They will design and implement volunteer programming with numerous Community Partners and work to cultivate a sustainable volunteer base in Brooklyn. In addition, the Recovery Manager will represent New York Cares at local meetings and build relationships with local universities and institutions. The manager will collaborate with department members and internal staff to coordinate resources and support for Brooklyn Sandy recovery programming.
The Brooklyn Recovery Manager may supervise seasonal interns.

Seasonal Program Associate - SAT Prep Program
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Children’s Education Program Manager, the Seasonal Program Associate is part of a three-person staff team that coordinates and manages New York Cares’ SAT Prep Program. Last year, 415 volunteers provided 1,050 low-income students with free SAT preparation services through this program. The Program Associate will assist our staff as they recruit and train volunteers for this year’s SAT Prep program, and will help coordinate logistics to launch the program in October 2013. This position is seasonal (July through October) and will average 30-40 hours per week. The hours will include occasional evening and Saturday trainings.
Parental and Community Support Associate (HandsOn Corps - AmeriCorps VISTA)
Program Overview: New York Cares is recruiting four HandsOn Corps members to create and expand educational programming opportunities for students, parents and community members at eight partner schools in targeted high-need neighborhoods in New York City. The Parental and Community Support Associate will focus specifically on creating programming for parents and community members affiliated with the partner schools. They will be expected to connect programming with school and community goals and priorities and to establish strong and lasting relationships with school staff, parents, and teachers to ensure program continuity. AmeriCorps members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency.

Manager, Individual Giving
The Individual Giving Manager reports directly to the Director of Individual and Foundation Giving and Special Events and is part of a small and highly motivated 4-person fundraising team. The role’s primary responsibility is the execution of an Individual Giving program projected to raise $1.3 million of a total departmental goal of $3.5 million in FY14.
Community Programs Assistant, Community Programs
Reporting to the Officer, Community Programs, the Seasonal Project Assistant is part of a team responsible for planning volunteer service projects for New York Cares' corporate and community partners. This position will focus on supporting full time staff in the planning and staffing of both customized projects that are typically one-time events and on-going programs. The Project Assistant should expect to spend one to two days a week in the field setting up and executing projects and other days in office providing general support for the department.
Summer Intern, Community Partner Relations
Reporting to the Community Partner Relations Manager, the Summer Intern will focus primarily on assisting the Community Partner Relations team with ensuring accuracy of information for New York Cares’ 1,300 Community Partners so that more of this information can be shared with our tens of thousands of volunteers and other stakeholders. Interns will also make a difference throughout New York City by posting volunteer referral opportunities and staffing a few Sponsored Service projects throughout the summer.
Office Volunteer, Volunteer Relations
Reporting to the Volunteer Relations Manager, the Summer Intern will focus primarily on assisting the Volunteer Relations Department with volunteer recognition. From verification letters to fun events, New York Cares is always striving to find new ways to recognize volunteer service.
The intern will also support various efforts to recognize, strengthen, and expand the New York Cares volunteer base.
